India Center
FacilitiesThe facilities of Badarikashrama are for all who wish to serve God through Humanity. Through an organization that offers a variety of opportunities for one's own development including serenity, spiritual discipline, an ashrama environment, meditation, and retreats and a way to share cultural and education exchanges, there is an opportunity to share and help others. Those who wish to be involved in the growth of the ashram programs can participate in the several goals enlisted below. Camps are to be planned for children since children form the bulk of the population. While devotees are currently sponsoring some children through high school, several others need financial assistance to purchase school supplies in order to complete their education. Assistance to these children will enable them to receive good education and improve economic opportunities. In addition a social center is planned in Bangalore, which will focus on women's education, care of children of migrant construction workers and distressed women. A two-acre parcel has been procured for this facility, which requires further development. By bringing together the support and involvement of devotees and friends in America and India, a dining hall was completed in 1988. A ten-room guesthouse Sadhanalaya provides an atmosphere of peace and tranquility for spiritual seekers from India and abroad. Each room has its own kitchen and bathroom facilities to make accommodation comfortable for our visitors. In 1992 an Ayurvedic garden was planted under a program of the Karnataka Government to grow plants and herbs used in Ayurvedic medicine. This garden offers a tremendous opportunity for developing medical treatment for local residents who would otherwise be deprived of such treatment. A free medical clinic is now available with an experienced Ayurvedic doctor on duty to treat the patients. In order to provide spiritual discipline to the growing number of regular devotees, the preparation to build a Prarthana Mandir (prayer hall) was begun in 1993, and has since been completed with Sri Lakshminarayana, Sri Ganesh Mandira and Sri Hanuman Mandir. The Mandira is 4,600 square feet and has a capacity of five hundred people. It is surrounded by inspiringly beautiful landscaping with an ornamental garden. |
